a brief update

The cyclone has been downgraded to a rain depression & is rolling south inland from the coast. The winds here of last night have eased, but we lost power for about ten hours from 2 a.m. to noon. Currently bucketing down with rain which is a common post-cyclone event. Lots of thunder. & talk of the river flooding, a rare event ever since they put in a dam upstream some 30 or 40 years ago. Sugarcane this side of the river blown over, not on the other side. Road closures. But we're safe & sound, with an intact house, so, for us, things aren't too bad. Freaky, though.
