Spring was never waiting for a steer*

Mondegreens are the rage this season.
All shapes & sizes. Not the well-known
ones like "there's a bathroom on the right"
but a whole new crop, thanks to the ever-
increasing presence of AI auto-generated
transcriptions of song lyrics on places like
YouTube. & not just embedded there for
posterity. Instead ephemeral. A different

version the next time the track is played —
"a steer" replaced by "us there;" "parted
pages" by "boarded beaches." Then comes
what just might be my favorite. Instead
of MacArthur Park melting in the dark,
we are told it is "a garden of spelt grain."
