+ / -

On the positive side, I have just completed going through the galley proofs of my Selected Poems 1959-2008 — amazing how you pick up things on the zillionth go-through — & will shortly be sending the corrected pages off for publication.

On the negative side, I have just discovered why my eyesight has been getting more shithouse of late — cataracts have developed in both eyes, & I'll be needing an operation to remove them.

Well, the "good" news is that cataract surgery has become very mundane, almost as much as heart surgery. My inlaws had their surgeries videotaped, which was pretty interesting--and quick.

Buena suerte, amigo.

I can't wait for the book. As Geof says, cataract surgery is very common now, so you should be fine (my sister is an ophtalmologist... I grew up surrounded by images of cataracts).

Take it easy. It will be such a relief when it's all done, you'll see! ;)

Abrazo largo.
